A donation out of the blue

A donation out of the blue

Just like any small charity, at any time, Move the Masses relies heavily on grants and donations to provide the services we do. There is a constant balancing act between ensuring we provide the best support to as many people as possible, and applying for grants that can make that happen.

Imagine our surprise, then, to receive a grant out of the blue from an organisation in York thanking us for the work we are providing during the coronavirus pandemic.

Your work makes a huge difference to so many people in York. We hope our donation will help you keep doing all the great things that you do.

That is exactly what happened this week when we received a letter from York Knavesmire Harriers, York’s largest running club,  who wanted to play their part in York’s response to the crisis.

The club quickly established a charity donation fund of £4,500, representing ten pounds from each of their 450 members and divided it between 6 local charities including the Foodbank, NHS, SASH, St Leonards, and us.

We cannot tell you how humbled and proud we feel to receive this.

The money goes directly to support our most vulnerable people in the city ensuring they get the medication they need, when they need it, a regular friendly chat to prevent loneliness, feelings of isolation and the onset of depression and a daily dose of exercise online for them to enjoy and maintain their wellbeing.
