Pocklington Project Launch

Our newest Move Mates project starts in Pocklington

Spreading the word in Pocklington and the surrounding area.

We’re excited to announce the latest addition to the Move Mates family; our Pocklington project. Patsy, our Pocklington Project Officer, has been busy putting up posters and generally  spreading the news about our latest project. The Pocklington project will pair people who need support to leave their homes with a volunteer for a weekly walk. It includes Stamford Bridge, Fangfoss and the surrounding area

Patsy is busy recruiting volunteers and letting prescribing services and organisations in the third sector know that we’re ready for referrals. She has been along to Pocklington Rugby in the Community’s (PRITC) Friday Social to meet potential volunteers and discuss the walking buddy project with people who might benefit. She has also been discussing the project with social prescribers, based at Pocklington Group Practice.

Once potential volunteers have completed their training and DBS checks we’ll be ready to make our first Pocklington pairing! We’re excited to see the project develop in Pocklington and to achieve our ultimate goal of improving people’s wellbeing through movement.

“Pocklington is a great place for walking and doing it with a Move Mate is even more fun – come and join us!
