Move Mates will keep moving - just differently
Following on from our recent news about the charity, Move Mates will continue but within the parameters of a different and limited operational model.
The charity will also be streamlined and, as of Friday 27th June, Move Mates will be closed completely in both Leeds and Pocklington.
Team Move Mates has worked hard and tirelessly to secure funding into the future, however the charity still remains in a fragile financial position.
We cannot give enough thanks to everyone who has donated, spread the word, fundraised or offered support in other ways so far, this has meant that the charity is saved from closure for now – thank you.
Our team of 7 staff members will no longer be in a paid position as of the 1st July.
However, our board of trustees is committed to ensuring that Move Mates continues. To enable this, the charity needs to shift to an operational model predominately run by volunteers.
Various volunteer opportunities
We are looking for volunteers to take the reins, and to offer volunteer time to assist with various tasks.
An overview and role description for these can be found on our ‘Volunteer’ page.
The majority of these roles require an hour or less per week.
To accommodate this, the charity will be scaling back on reach and development, but will still have capacity to make a strong impact.
Referrals remain closed
Leeds and Pocklington will be closed permanently from Friday 27th June.
York, Durham and Selby will remain active for current pairings and referrals but will not be accepting any new referrals.
