Role Description
As a Communications/Newsletter Volunteer, you will help to create and distribute a monthly newsletter that keeps volunteers and supporters informed and engaged. You will gather news stories, updates, and upcoming opportunities from across the organisation, writing clear and engaging content that showcases the impact of Move the Masses. You will take a lead on formatting the newsletter for digital distribution and liaising with other volunteers in communications and admin to gather information. This role is vital for building community spirit and ensuring everyone involved stays connected. Creativity, a good eye for detail, and the ability to meet deadlines are important for success in this role.
Skills and Behaviours Needed for the Role
Strong writing and editing skills, basic design/layout skills and knowledge of using Mailchimp a plus, organised, deadline-driven, team player.

Role Description
Fundraising is vital for sustaining the work of Move the Masses. As a Fundraising Volunteer, you will support the team by researching funding opportunities, helping to organise fundraising events, and preparing materials such as sponsorship requests. You may also assist with community outreach to build relationships with potential supporters and local businesses. This role is perfect for someone organised and proactive, with an interest in helping a community organisation thrive financially.

Good research and organisational skills, confident communicator, motivated, able to work independently or in a team.

Social Events Organiser

Role Description
The Organiser of Volunteer Social Events leads the planning and delivery of monthly social meet-ups designed to bring Move the Masses volunteers together for informal connection and community spirit. You will plan, arrange and coordinate social activities, and work with communications volunteers to promote events. Your role helps foster a welcoming environment where volunteers can relax, share experiences, and celebrate their contributions. Attendance at the meet-ups is expected to support the smooth running of events. This role suits someone who enjoys event planning and values building relationships within the volunteer community.

Organisational skills, good communicator, friendly, able to coordinate with others, proactive, and approachable.

Move Mate

When Are Volunteers Needed?
Approximately 1 hour per week

Walking buddy
Role Description
Our Volunteer Move Mates provide access to fresh air, a walk and a chat for vulnerable people in their local communities. Move Mates meet with their paired walkers weekly to accompany them on a walk. Times and days can be flexible as you will arrange these directly with your paired walker. You will need to be comfortable contacting your beneficiary to make arrangements, and to notify them should you need to reschedule a walk.
Skills and Behaviours Needed for the Role
Genuine interest in supporting vulnerable adults. People are referred to our service for a variety of reasons including mental health challenges, social anxiety, sensory impairments, frailty, and physical health concerns, so empathy, kindness and patience are all key attributes.
