Date/Time
Friday 17 February 2023
12:15 - 13:30
Location
Durham Amateur Rowing Club
Starting and Finishing at Durham Amateur Rowing Club (DARC).
Please join us for our February walk followed by a drink at 1860 Bar and Café, based at DARC.
***EDIT***
Adapting route due to the wind and we have a Volunteer joining us for a drink after the walk (so shortening the walk a little to ensure we are back in time). We won’t walk all the way down Bent House Lane but turn soon after the Alpacas to shorten the walk.
We will walk along the riverbanks towards the city, over Baths Bridge and along the other side until we get to Old Durham Gardens https://olddurhamgardens.co.uk/. Unfortunately the The Upper Walled Garden and Gazebo is closed at this time of year, however the Lower Walled Garden and orchards are open to the public at all times and we can pause and explore.
We will then follow the path uphill towards Bent House Lane (hopefully past some Alpacas) with a lovely view across the fields and across to the Cathedral. We will the head downhill towards Shincliffe, cutting through the playing fields at Maiden Castle and along the riverbanks (& “Noisy Bridge”) back to DARC where we will finish with a drink.
You are very welcome to just come for the walk or the drink.
Parking is available at DARC (DH1 3JU) and there is also parking available close by on Green Lane. There are bike racks available too.
Children and Dogs are very welcome but must be always your full responsibility.
Please note that the surface could be uneven and a little muddy, so please take extra care and wear appropriate footwear.
Looking forward to seeing you there.
