Kelle from the Guide Dogs Charity is coming to Durham to deliver a free training workshop for our Move Mate Volunteers.
In this training workshop we will learn about what it feels like to live with sight loss, an outline of eye conditions, barriers to independence and emotional consequences.
We will take part in blind folded activities, learning how to guide someone when walking through doors, stairs and narrow spaces which would give a real insight into the lives of people living with sight loss.
We are seeing an increase in referrals into Move Mates for Beneficiaries living with Sight Loss and this training will be invaluable for any Volunteer who is paired (now or in the future) with someone living with sight loss.
We will provide some snacks and drinks during the training and if anybody would like to go to the Duke of Wellington or The Stonebridge Pub afterwards for a drink then we can certainly arrange to do that.
There will be parking available and there is a bus stop right by the entrance to the carpark.
