On the 14th of May, three of our amazing fundraisers will be taking on the huge challenge of running 100km each over 25 hours. Yes, you read that right, 100km over 25 hours!
Ed, Michael, and Michal will be running 4km every hour, starting at 8pm on Friday the 14th, to cover a total of 100km and raise money for Move the Masses. This ambitious plan was thought up where so many great plans are made: in the pub. A friend told the trio about a similar challenge he had undertaken and strongly advised against it, but that wasn’t enough to put Ed, Michael and Michal off!
“It started as a bit of a joke in the pub. A friend of ours had done the same challenge as part of his training for a notoriously tough ultra-distance fell-running route. He was saying how gruelling it had been and that he wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. So, we instantly decided that we could do the same!”

The opportunity to undertake such a mammoth feat came about when Move the Masses announced we would be taking part in Wonderful.org’s ‘Miles Better’ event, asking people to make a pledge to get outside in the fresh air, walk, run or cycle as many miles as possible and raise money as they go so that the charity can continue to support people to improve their wellbeing through movement.
When we asked why raise money for Move the Masses, Michal told us,
“I know first-hand from a couple of Move Mate beneficiaries how valuable it is for them to have someone to walk alongside with and I like to support this.”
Michael, who volunteered with us during the first lockdown said,
“I think Move the Masses is a great charity, and through lockdown last year I really enjoyed having the excuse to get out on a lunchtime to do a prescription delivery or Move Mail. It gave me a purpose to get out, so was good for me and gave the feeling of doing something really worthwhile!”
There’s no doubt that this is going to be one of the toughest challenges these fundraisers have undertaken and we’ll be supporting them all the way.
“I like challenges and knowing that Michael and Ed will be out at the same time doing the same thing gives me the inspiration to do this”
