Raising funds and awareness!
You may have seen on our socials that two of our Volunteer Move Mates ran the York 10k on the 4th August.
Adam and Sandrine have first-hand experience of the positive impact of being a Move Mate.
Both of them make a big difference to the people they walk with, as do all our Volunteer Move Mates. The opportunity to feel the fresh air, and to enjoy a walk and a chat one-to-one is a simple but invaluable one.
Sandrine’s paired walker has developed more confidence, especially when out walking by herself.

Adam and Sandrine wanted to raise awareness of Move Mates, as well as encouraging people to volunteer.
This inspired them to run the York 10k to raise awareness of and funds for our ongoing work.
Between them, they have raised an incredible £430.00 (including gift aid contributions).

Race day action!
For anyone wanting to increase their activity, Sandrine says, “every step counts – it is the getting out and doing it that matters.”
Why not start with a Move Mate?
We have volunteers ready and waiting in our Leeds and Durham projects.
So if you or someone you know would benefit from one-to-one walking support, refer them to us.
You can find our referral form here.
Thumbs up, still smiling!
