Success in Selby

Selby is one of our newer project areas, and Move Mates is already providing valuable support to those in Selby and surrounding areas.

Our new pairing have been getting to know each other and exploring their local area.

Celebrating Selby’s First Pairing…

John and his wife, Audrey, were referred to the project by Living Well Co-ordinator, Kathryn Darley, to offer some respite for Audrey and company for John. We are delighted that they are both benefiting from the regular walks with their wonderful volunteer Move Mate.

John has dementia and Audrey is his full-time carer. Move Mate volunteer Paula is giving Audrey valuable time to herself to enjoy a cuppa with her sister, and John the chance to get out in the fresh air and have a good chat.

Selby Project Officer, Sarah says:

“I look forward to reading Paula’s walk logs each week. John loves to chat and has told her all about his allotment and his time living abroad. He also enjoys saying hello to people they meet on their walks. Paula is great and I know that Audrey really appreciates her time and has told me what a lovely person she is. John loves his time out and always comes back with a big smile.

Many thanks to Living Well for our first Selby pairing referral.

“I’m delighted that we’re able to bring the Move Mates project to Selby, and that we’re already seeing the positive impact of getting out for a weekly walk

It’s a joy to hear about the positive impact Paula and Move Mates has made for John and Audrey, and that’s what it’s all about… giving everyone the opportunity to enjoy the fresh air and to have a chat.
